So, are you gonna ride WM tomorrow?

I've got a few items that I need to return to you.;) :D
I have to work and run errands
Besides the Manitou is toast so Ill ride the road bike Sunday to get in some miles and a workout
I noticed a few good deals to be had in E land on suspension forks.Thinking Fox for my next frame, the one with external adjustments ,thru axel is a must on a 29.
The fox 15mm TA looks like a nice fork. Switching form a QR to bolt thru axle on the front was a big step in the right direction. Think the 15mm should prove to be even better.

Just built up a few wheels with Stans Flow and was impressed with how well they went together. Should be a major upgrade.

Sweet! Can not wait to hear about it after a few rides (as far as the 15MM). I think I am going to go with a 15MM up front on my 4X bike. I am looking at the new for 831 4X and it only comes with a 15MM TA.

Did you get a good deal on the fork as well? I think I would not mind building up a 29er this summer and I was looking at that fork. I will PM you in a few months see how its been working out for you.
I BELIEVE I got a great deal on the fork and hub....of course someone will find it less expensive today...and prove me wrong..but Im happy and thats what counts...I cant wait to see you on a 29er that wil be interesting to see you set up in between those Big Wheels
Make sure you get the widest rims you can find short of the Salsa Gordos
Ive went through 3 rear rims before settiling on the SUN Ryno Lites. I was able to run them tubeless with non tubelss tires..it sealed up great with the Stans yellow tape and some slime
I believe Rory has some Mavic 29er wheels he would sell you...I believe they are tubeless rdy although you would have to R2 the front hub to get the advantage of the 15mm TA
Make sure you put at least a 7 inch rotor up front big wheels need the extra help to slow you down.
What frame are you looking at? A hard tail or Full Suspension?
Niner, Intense, Lenz, Ellsworth...Pivot 429 is the second best FS 29er on the market behind the RIP 9...IMO...I havent rode the Niner WFO yet.
I rode the Turner and it wasnt all that great...IMO....I ranked it 4th behind the Lenz..but it would have been farther back if I rode the Intense and the WFO iIm sure of it....Please dont roast me for saying less than perfect things about the Turner 29er...Turner just missed the mark on the 29er ...But the rest of the Turner AM bikes rock

Hard tail is an easy kill...its what ever feels great under you...I like my Jamis Dakota it was inexpensive...it handles great and the frame has held up under my weight/abuse. The wheelset is WTB they are heavy but bombproof...the rest of the bike needs upgraded from OEM specs. There are some other HT that look pretty good including the Niner MCR, EMD and SIR...the Niner bottombracket is an adjustable bio centric so you can turn it into a SS without having to add weight of a chain tension gizmo...Ive seen Niner EMD, SIR and MCR on ebay that would fit you....also call Niner they may have last years model hangingthere waiting for a "GUY " of your "stature" to show up...Im just messing with you...its all good.

Good info., thanks. I would not mind trying the Mavics I think they have a 15 MM conversion I will check into that when ready. Not being a bigger rider I think those rims would be fine for XC/AM 29er action.

It will be a HT 29er but I do not want front rigid so looking a the Fox.
If you dont want to spend the $$ on a fox go with a Rock Shock Reba...Ive heard good things about the 29er version...But do not go with a Manitou
Mavic has a 15mm TA that will work fine.
Ok I have to get ready for a Road Bike ride...
Where did I put those BIBS???
Its warm enough today to ride without a shirt...You got a visual I know you do...lol
FREAK

I got Fox suspension (and Elka now!) at cost so it should not be an issue. Thanks for the help and have a good ride!!!!!!
Thats awesome!
I got mine just above that...but well below retail...Like I said everyone will find it less expensive in time by the end of the day. Same with the XTR 15mm TA hub...I got that at a great price....Im not complaining one bit!

What HT frame are you looking at?

I cheated some since I am sponsored and that is why I get that price. Sometimes stuff comes free! Not sure about you but that's my favorite price .

Do you have to ask? :nono:

Dont get Flat top bars...I rode with FT bars for 2 seasons then switched to bars that where just as wide but with a rise...Huge differance! It feels 10x better climbing/decsendig and turning...
You may feel like you are sitting on top of the world with 29...especially when you are going down a steep pitch...You need to figure out what works well for you as far as cockpit config to get you over the back tire...Also when you stop in the middle of a steep climb the 29 is not your friend it takes a few pedal rotations to get the wheels moving...but once they do they roll over stuff nice....XC stuff is where it excells...it picks up speed fast...unless Im riding the damn thing of course...cuz Im slow anyway...all of this info is what Ive heard...cuz I cant ride to save my life...I can prove that cuz Ive worn through 3 pairs of MTB shoes pushing that damn bike everywhere!

I see your going Canfield...I dont know much about that 29er frame...Ill have to do some research...the thing about a 29er is that the measurements dont line up like a typical 26...so dont try to compare HA/SA/TT/BB and all that stuff...the big wheels make everything fly different.
The RIP 9 HA is more relaxed than the Turner and Pivot so it makes for rolling over drops easier and doesnt make you feel like your going to OTB...IMO...also it makes for DH runs to be faster...of course the corners arent as easy to negotiate...but thats life...You will probably pick the fastest line anyway so corners are just a place for you to rest :)

I turned up the heat!! I put a XTR 203mm front disk on the Fox F29
SWEET!
Cann't wait to see the canefield,Ricky.
I love the Gary fisher 29 ers ,theres just something about that geometry that feels good compared to my niner or felt.
After weeks and weeks of research and comparison shopping. My new whip is going to be made up in Boulder.I'm pulling the trigger today and sending in a deposit.

Looks like your going to keep it real..... I've heard quite a bit of praise for his frame, nice choice. So where are you stacked in the wait list?
