Not normal.

What are you using as a chain cleaner?

What are you using as a lubricant?

Just based on what you wrote, I suggest you definitely increase your lubrication interval, and try reducing the cleaning interval.

Based on recommendations and info I've read about chain maintenance and the inner-workings of chain lubrication, I'm pretty much stopped "cleaning" (i.e. degreasing) my chains.

I stick to regular lubrication -- drop-by-drop, one roller at a time -- plus exterior wipe-downs when necessary.

In any case, lubricate more, and let us know what products you normally use.

Worn out front chainrings will EAT UP A NEW CHAIN QUICK.

Also I would use ProLink chain lube as it runs very clean and does not pick up dirt and grit as it will dry very dry and it will not look like you have any lube on at all but will last an easy 100 miles when used in the dry. If it is muddy just wash your drivetrain down with soap and water and let dry and relube. Follow the directions on the bottle and I would suggest you wipe the chain down real good after lubing and let completely dry before you hit the dirt. AWESOME STUFF

I lube just almost weekly. I clean monthly but reading this I may stop doing that. I use white lightning. No issues at all with it.

I run SRAM 991 too and no problems. I have the prior years one (not sure the name) and I had one set of links lock up. They wouldn't bend. I was ridingin ridiculously sandy conditions so maybe that caused it.

My front chain rings are about two years old and have about 700 miles on them. The middle ring is steel so it is more durable (also heavier) but I can't really tell what a worn chain ring looks like. I've never used the big ring and they look similar. Middle ring teeth are a little more rounded out.
