Hey All!
So I'm not a dedicated WW, but I would love to get my bike UNDER 22lbs.

Current weight with pedals is 22lbs 13 oz. So I need to lose 370g to get under.

Here's current build:

Frame: Niner Air9 Scandium (Medium)
Fork: Reba XX
Headset: Chris King - Red Sotto Voce
Wheels: Stan's ZTR Arch
Tires: Schwalbe RaRa 2.25/2.4 Evo (Setup Tubeless)
Crankset: Shimano SLX with Niner Chainring (deanodized)
Chainguide: MRP 1x
Chain: KMC X10sl Gold
R Derailleur: SRAM X9 10s
Shifter: SRAM X9 10s
Handlebars: Salsa Pro Moto Carbon Flat - 680mm // 5 Degree
Brakes: Avid Elixir X.0 180/160mm
Grips: ESI Chunky
Saddle: Charge Knife Ti - 210g
Pedals: Crank Brothers Candy SL - Red
Seatpost: Thomson Elite
Seatpost collar: Salsa Lip Lock
Cassette: Shimano SLX 12-36

I'm switching to 2.25 Rocket Ron's, Eggbeaters 3's and possible 160 rotors F/R, but this would probably only drop about 200g.

(I have already cut the spacers off the top of the stem)

Thanks!

Nice bike!

I would change the cassette to XX if you can swing it and definitely go tubeless if you haven't already. If you are light enough, switching the rims to some ZTR 355's would save some weight too, but I would probably just keep the arch's if I were you.

Also, changing the seatpost to a masterpiece and the stem to something lighter would save some grams.

I'd throw a chainstay protector on that pretty white frame before it gets scratched up if you haven't already done so.

Good luck with the build!

Thanks! Looks like even switching to the XG-1080 I could probably lose about 170g. Not bad, I may be able to swing that.

That's almost halfway there!

Someone's going to say it, so I will. Carbon fork. Quite light. 560 grams or so, with your current fork coming in at over 1600, so that would more than take care of it right there... and because you have a Niner, it will go very well. Unless of course you want to keep the XX's; understandable.

I am actually considering picking up the carbon fork for some of the faster trails around here, but I'm sure I will prefer to keep the Reba XX on there most of the time.

I would change to Ibis stem, KCNC Ti Pro Lite Scandium Seatpost, XX casette, SLR saddle, Rohloff chain guide, and Middleburn cranks. If you add a niner carbon fork to that, you might get it close to 20 lbs.

Here's what I would do, in this order:

- trim down the steerer tube
- swap out the Candy's for some Eggbeaters (SL or Ti) with aftermarket Ti spindles (do you need the platform of the Candy's?)
- change the rear derailuer for a short cage (not for weight savings, but b/c you should be running one)
- replace the Salsa seatpost clamp with a Woodman Deathgrip SL Ti (not a lot of savings, but those Salsa clamps are way too heavy.)
- swap out the cassette for a lighter one (depending on budget)
- get a lighter stem (I'm fond of Ritchey WCS)
- get a lighter seatpost (lots of nice carbon options these days to take the edge off)
- ride it like you stole it

I would keep the MRP guide- looks nice and you can't beat the reliability.

Looks like bholwell hit all the buttons.

I would change the cassette (hard to beat XX), use a Paul Chain guide, lighter seatpost and stem (WCS is a good choice or Enve if you can swing it). Switch out the Arch's for some Crest rims (not sure the rest of your wheel build but Revo spokes and ZTR hubs would work well).

This combined with the stuff you have already mentioned should get you way under the 370g your looking for.

If it were me I would swap in this order:
cassette - XX
Post - tons to choose from
Stem- "

There is no sense going crazy if you are slightly short of your goal. The XX cassette is uber expensive, but at a 100+gr weight savings you can't go wrong there.

nice bike BTW

Well here's the problem I suppose... I weigh about 200lbs. So Crest's, Eggbeater Ti's, etc are basically out of the question.

I think I may pick up an OS-99 and a XG-1080 cassette, that should save over 200g.

KCNC post
KCNC stem or a Ritchey WSC (have one of those myself)
Seat to an SLR or something full carbon (if you can deal with it)
Fork to Niner or even a White Brothers (can be picked up cheaper used)
Chain to a KMC x9sl
Cassette to something lighter
Pedal swap
Bars to an FSA K force Nano carbon (110 grams at 580 or 600mm?) or trim yours down some.
plastic water bottle bolts
ti rotor bolts
ti caliper bolts
Tubeless conversion w/ your new tires
rebuild wheels (new rims/hubs, lighter spokes/nipples)

Sorry just throwing out a bunch of different options for you there

Pick up a used set of M960 XTR cranks off ebay for $100
Be a man, drop the cassette/der/shifter and go SS!

Oh, skewers

At 200....I'd be careful on a seat post...but Easton EC90 have held up for me and May be lighter that what you have.
Os99 stems are 75 bucks at universal...or get an Ibis stem for $45 from Ibis and add ti bolts.
Rotors: why 180/160? Could you go 160/140? Alligators are cheap, light and work.
Or...do what most true blooded weight weenies do: LIE!
BTW...nice bike. I say lie and ride the crap out of it.

change the stem, thomson is too heavy...
Look for a bontager rxl take off at a trek dealer or ebay. 90mm is like 110g or so and I've bought 2 of them for about $40 each. Its 50g less than the thomson 90mm.

Go to 160mm up front. Get an alligator rotor for the rear, or the front too if you want but I had trouble with them warping on the front.

Get the ti bolt kit for elixirs on ebay.
