I want to bring the handlebars a little bit in, but not much.
I have a XC3 1 1/8", 31.8 mm stem on my bike. What would be the next size down?
The guy in my LBS said it was a 110. I guess go down to a 100??

Remember if you go with a shorter stem with the same amount of rise, the net effect will be the bars closer AND lower.

Is this a Cannondale stem? I did a quick google search and looks like they came in 20 and 5 degree rise. If you can find out what rise yours is, we can do some math to figure out what combination you would need.

Yes, it's a Cannondale stem. I'm pretty sure its a 20 degree rise. It's an 08 F5

So if my trig is correct, going from a 110 to 100 with the same 20 degrees of rise would give:

((110*cos(20) - 100*cos(20)) = 9.4mm closer
((110*sin(20) - 100*sin(20)) = 3.4mm lower

:skep: This is where I went downhill in math.
How about 100 with a slightly lower degrees? I don't know what different degrees they come in. 100 with ? degrees.

Probably have to check out all the different brands and see what they offer as far as length/rise options.
