Hey all, how's it going?

I have a question about new tires. I currently ride a Mosaic Smith 29er SS with worn out Maxxis Ardent 2.25s on both ends. I usually ride around the green mountain area in Morrison, Mt. Falcon, Dakota ridge, Buffalo creek and Coachline road. Im looking for something a little wider than the Ardent 2.25's. The Ardents were ok, a bit slippery in sand and such. Overall they didnt really do it for me.

I looked at the Specialized Eskar2bliss tires, which are 2.3" wide, they seem like a good option.

What is anybody else riding and suggesting? Thanks again folks.

Well,

After some debate and asking the fine folks over at Mojo Wheels, I came home with a set of Specialized eskar2bliss 2.3's for my Mosaic. They have a much more agressive treat pattern, especially on the sides. The sidewalls seem to be thin but no where near as thick as the Ardents. Never tore the sidewalls on my ardents but felt like I certainly got close more than once.

Im still thinking of going wider on the front and hanging on to the second eskar for a later date. The 2.4 ardent is kind of out at this point as Ive tasted that koolaid and the flavor was just alright.

Any suggestions for a wider than 2.3 front tire thats still light enough for XC riding?

Thanks again all.

I've really like the Trail King in the 2.4 26er version, I bet the 2.4 29er version would be worth trying as a wide tire too.

Heard good things about the Spec Purgatory, want to try one myself up front

The 2.4 Ardent has been the only tire I have found that has good volume, traction, rolls well, bombproof sidewall and when setup tubeless is very reasonable weight wise.
