I'm looking Cannondale Flash 29er and plan on setting it up 1x10, but the seat tube is tappered down by the bottom bracket. It's a press fit BB. It doesn't seem that the direct mount guides (e13, mrp x1 or pauls) will work because the tapering. Any suggestions?

Unless, does your frame have a direct mount front mech, or is it a clamp on? If it's a clamp on, there are a couple guides that would clamp on its place. e.13 and Paul both make on, Rohloff does, and I think MRP has a variation as well. I think MRP is even working on a guide to mount to direct derailleur mount setups.

If none of those are options, you could always cannibalize the upper bits from any of those and figure out a mount for it from the seat tube bottle cage boss - I'll assume your frame has that option at least.

If none of those are works, then you're stuck with the bash guard sandwich.

Yes, it's a direct mount, can't use clamping mount style. I'm currently using a bb mount on my Scott, but that's a threaded bb. I was hoping to use the mrp x1 or e13 (very simple and light) until I noticed that the seat tube was so tapered.

MRP is supposedly working on a version of their 1x to mount the same way.

Maybe the high mount version of this would work with your seat tube, since it drops down from the mount point?

Otherwise, do a BBG bashguard sandwich, and replace it with one of the other guides once you can get them.
