Sette is the best bang for you buck I think. The rear shock on it is a higher model than the other 2 and for less than the Kona. I ride a Sette Reken which is the Hardtail, and I like it very good bang for your buck.

I do like the Design of the Kona out of all 3 of them.

different framesets

you don't say how you're going to ride.

The Sette is an XC bike, the others are AM bikes, bigger travel with slacker headtubes.

The Kona is the best bet IMO. Proven geometry, bombproof, and a Fox RP23 shock for $499 is a steal. The shock alone is $279, so you get a frame for $221.00!

Unless you want an XC bike.

My height is around 5' 9 1/2", so i assuming that kona is out of my choices?

what size top tube length

do you need, and again, are you going to ride XC or AM? You choose a bike by the size/length of the top tube, not XL, XXL etc which isn't consistent among manufacturers. Kona uses inches, so it must be Wheel World using the weird sizing?

It's really a bit frustrating trying to help when you leave us in the dark.

sorry about keeping you guys in the dark, i have not decided which way to go yet AM or XC.
I'll be riding every weekend, on mountain trails here in California, it won't be anything extreme.

frame

The Ibex deal seems hard to beat.If the shock is worth over $200 alone, you get the frame for $100.And only $25 shipping.Man,things must be tough all over.

OK thanks...

here's the deal: the head tube angle on the Kona is 68.5 degrees, so you can rip down hills with confidence, but climb up them a bit more slowly with less precision (all mountain).

the Sette is a 70 degree headtube, so more XC oriented, faster twitchier handling when going fast of DH, and DH you're more prone to wrecking is the bike gets away on you.

Ibex doesn't publish their HT angle, so I can't tell you theoretically how it handles. I suspect it's an AM ride though.

So AM will be better for steeper descents, but slower ascents, and the XC bike will be faster going up and a lot trickier descending.

Generally speaking, that is.

Good luck, Jim
