Scalpel feels more like a hardtail. Since you already have a hardtail I would say get the bike that is most different from it so you can cover a larger spectrum of conditions/courses. I love my anthem and depending on how you set up the suspension its great for both racing and general trail riding, where the scalpel is more of a race only bike. This is a bit of an exaggeration of the differences between the two bikes; of course you can use the scalpel for general riding as well. seriously not very sure which one is better..or which one is more value for money?
