Hi everyone - newbie here.
Have just gotten into mtbing with my son. I have a 2020 Trance 2 29; and he has a 2015 GT Avalanche Expert hardtail - 27.5.
We ride in Brisbane Australia - lots of trails!
Even though his bike is an XC we generally ride at trail parks, and he smashes into obstacles, logs, rock gardens regularly.
The stock tyres are Continental Race King 27.5 x 2.2, back and front, on 584-20C rims. Trouble is he tends to get tears in the sidewall.
I'm no bike mechanic so looking to change tyres and wondering if a Maxxis Minion DHF 2.3 will work up front on these rims and be a good choice, or should we stick with the conti 2.2s or the like?
No doubt the DHF will give up some speed, but might be worth it for the extra traction up front and protection?
Any advice would be welcome.
Cheers!
