I currently own a 19" Trek 4500 and am hoping to upgrade to a Specialized Hardtail. (Any thoughts on this new bike?) I feel that the 19" frame is a little on the small size for me, being 6' 1" and weighing 210lbs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated before the bike shop guy trys to sell me what he has in stock...

Thanks in advance for your help.

I will be riding the bike to work almost everyday and on the way home, I ride the dirt open space trails and I want to be able to go shred on the weekends to keep in shape for motocross.

I am definitely willing to give up street performance to have better trail performance. No extreme downhills or jumping though....

My price range is about $1200.00-$1500.00

To compare, I'm 5'10" and my bikes are all size Large/19"ish frames. I like to have a little room to move around and feel crampt on size M. With your height 3" taller then me, you might be more comfy on an XL frame.

As far as what bike to buy...I say go a little above budget and get you a Heckler. As a former MXer...I know you'l love one of these things. It's like an Elsinore with no motor!:D  .

You said that you were interested in the Specy hardtails. This might give you a starting point. THIS might even work out but it is without discs.

Keep checking the classifieds on this site because there are often pretty good deals on there.
