Do you know what year it is? If not what color is it? that might help me find it on bikepedia.com, and then I can see the specs. It sounds good, but without more info, and pics, it's hard to say. What are the upgrades that have been done? Did you actually ride it to make sure that it's not tweaked and that it functions properly? If something isn't working, and you don't wrench on bikes, it could be costly to make it functional.
If it hasn't been hammered on, and is in the shape you say, it seems like a decent deal. That frame is worth upgrading over time. Ride it and upgrade as you go. The first thing I'd upgrade would be the rear shock. I like my basic fox float. lighter than coil, and can be found cheap. It does lack adjustability, and you'll need a shock pump to adjust air pressure.
