I'm going to try and get the GF a little more serious into riding with me. it's hard when your a newbie and she's stuck riding a 30lb bike. she's small (5'0") and kinda short legs! I like building up bikes so I am looking for a decent relatively cheap frame (hardtail) that comes in a tiny size. I was thinking of a 14" kona caldera for $200. any other ideas out there?

make her test ride a few bikes and see which one fits her the best. when i bought my GF a bike last year, she could tell immediately which one fit her better. just go to your LBS and let her ride a few and make sure she is comfortable on it. otherwise, you will have wasted your money.
