Hey I was thinking about turning the specialized langster into a fixie cross bike but I need to get some cantilever brakes and neither the frame or the fork have the correct brake mounts. Is there any type of device that I could add on that would make the cantilever brakes work. I am really excited to see if this will work. It is a nice looking bike that comes really cheap.

1: I doubt if the Langster has enough tire clearance for 'cross tires.

2: Rear brakes are not usually used on a fixie.

A Surly Crosscheck or On-One Il Pompino would be a better choice.

You might, MAYBE, be able to squeeze some old Vittoria or Specialized 'cross tires in there (I forget the model names, but they came in a 24mm width) if you can find them, but they have mediocre grip and ride like they're packed with gravel. Do yourself a favor and get a frame with some tire clearance. Also, track frames tend to have pretty steep angles and would be a bit on the twitchy side for riding in mud and snow.
