new fork

I recently bought a Kona Scrap that came with a MZ Race fork. It gives a harsh ride and I want to replace it with something that has proper damping ect. It will be used for trail riding and light jumping. Can you recommend anything for under $400.

Thanks guys

I'm replacing the MZ Comp on my Kikapu with a 2005 Vanilla R. They retail for something around $380-400ish but you could get an RLC for something like $100 more. Or maybe you could wait for the new 2005 Marzocchi All Mountain forks if they come with HCSV or some sort of shimmed damping system.

If you haven't already done so I would suggest contacting Marzocchi directly and utilizing their "up-grade" pollicy. I just did this and got the MX Pro w/ETA. The total cost with shipping worked out to be about $300 (I paid a little more for next day air). I also got the adjustment pump. If you call and talk to their tech department they can give you the details: 661-257-6630

you should order the marathon S cartridges for it, it will be cheaper than a new marzocchi MX, and perform way better. This should be possible, it is for most other marzocchis.

The MZ race doesn't even have oil damping, so I don't think you could buy marathon s cartridges for it. But I don't even know what a cartridge is, so I'll shut up and take your word for it.

Thanks Guy, I didn't even know there was an upgrade scheme. You are obviously Australian, right?
Not directly... I live in the states. I do have a brother thats been down there for about 12 years. He works for your govt., currently living up in the NT (Arnhem Land). When I saw your post I didn't know where you were at. Marzocchi does have an Australian authorized dealer/service provider though so you should be able to deal with them directly. Here's there website- http://www.groupesportif.com/
