Ok, hear me out. Yesterday I re-mounted a Schwalbe Big Jim on a Mavix SL. Its a non-UST so I use Stan's goop, which is a brand new bottle. The tire is on my bench sitting vertically and has a small pool of oil where the tire meets the rim and some very small dots of oil around both sidewalls. The tire got a whole in it last week so it was last ridden with a tube and the residue from Stan's.

Can't for the life of me figure out where the oil came from. Its off the bike, it wasn't there yesterday, didn't spray the sidewall with any soap or lubricant.

Been using Stan's for over a year. Coincidentally just got a new bottle. Is there any oil in that stuff? I kinda doubt it. Was thinking it came out of the freehub but its on both sides.

I'm baffled, any comments would be appreciated.

have you tried removing the tire to look inside? Maybe there was a fun chemical reaction between goop and tire rubber compound...
