9 degrees early morning...will it warm up? 11:00am 47 degrees! Yikes, I'm outa here. Still no dry dirt to be had but my winter fall back ride is at a big park full of bike trails south of where I live. I drive past a whole buncha dirt trails to get to this area, but today's theme was: no riding on muddy dirt and No Vehicles. I'll be on concrete but it's just me, runners and other bikers. Heading to where I was going it didn't look like the dirt trails were really rideable unless you're on a Pugsley.
Speaking of No Vehicles: the only time you'll see these parking lots empty is Christmas. All other times they're packed.
There was a vintage Mustang parked next to me. Convertible, fast. Probably a great summer ride.
A large herd of deer appeared out of nowhere (deer have a habit of just appearing, no noise, no warning...suddenly they're there. Don't know if they knew where they were going but they were headed there pretty fast.
It's about a 10 mile loop. Absolutely bike path material but, as I say in the winter, any dry port (trail) in a storm. This loop just dried off in the last few days because of really high winds. Today was about 45 degrees and wonderful.
I love to photograph this parabolic mirror. First a roadie coming through then some Photoshop. (next set of pics).
