Indeed, by some short frame, wide handlebar bike have extremely good control.
I can build more light bike, but I use it not only in competition. And in mountian, where weight not is important. I like this setup and almost bike.

After season of mtb, AM, XC riding my frame cracked :(:(:(

i found 3 way to repair it:
- weld frame
- carbon fiber
- fiberglass

1 - its not simply aluminium. its scandium and need using argon wielding and dont safe
2 - need frame postage in other city (price and quality of work not knowned)
3 - simply process but not resistant to shock loads

i decide to use argon wielding plus fiberglass with additional support of alu partition:

after wielding look there:

repair process continues...

Did you buy the bike new? If you did they have a 5 year warranty.

Sorry for the bad fortune though, good luck.

first i buy used(for 1 season) frame on ebay without documentation
second in ukraine dont service salsa frame
thirdly no exit, or repair or buy a new frame, but I'm very liked use soft, and 29er softtail it is a little unusual:)

second part of work:

insert this 3mm aluminum part for lateral stiffness, because welding or fiberglass scattered

thirdly part fiberglasses:

remains day to pour glue, and lots of work of rasp

HVVI - I strongly suggest you dont ride this frame anymore, its just too dangerous for you.
the probability that it will break in repairs equal to zero
the probability that it will break in another place is much more
and always there is an extreme variant of the replacement frame, if something is not right
but I'm going test it, unless I am confident in its reliability, then have to replace
