My new bike....***Pictures Added***

Brand new 2006 Brodie Brute...
https://www.brodiebikes.com/2010/archive/bike.php?model=brute&year=06

Just picked it up during a VIP sale. Supposively they do a quick check over, but when I got it home I noticed the front derailleur cable is really loose. Is there any other things I should look over? I will try to get some actual pictures sometime this week. Just thought I would share my early Christmas present to myself! :)

Whoa nice bike! The things I would check- Brakes, Air pressure(obvious), Spokes/Rims, and just to be safe- any small cracks forming in "weak" spots. Im sure I missed a few things. Congrats though. Wish my parents would give me an early present:sad:
Merry Christmas to you  Sometimes is normal for the FD cable to be a bit loose when your on the granny ring (no cable tension). Go get that thing dirty!
Check every thing. All nuts and bolts, hubs, head set, brakes, bottom bracket, frame. If you're not sure what to look for maybe bring it to your LBS for a once over.
Thanks...I worked hard for this Christmas present, LOL...no parents involved. I wish I could go get it dirty, but it is kinda cold, snowy, and icey out here in Canada. Gonna have a good through look over this weekend.
My personal opinion= Nothing funner than 1. Crashing and not getting hurt or 2.Skidding on some ice patches:cornut:

Nothing funner?
There's a lot of stuff more fun.;) Most are illegal so I'm not going to say what they are and ruin this thread.:nono:
Oh? Are you talking about just on a bike? Well then never mind what I said.:D

:D Yeah there are more things WAY funner but...lol. Those are the two things I think are best while riding.
To bad we can't do them all the fun things at once. Its hard...from experience, lol. Anyways just gotta keep my eyes open for a helmet.
thanks...can't wait to ride it. now just gotta pick up a new helmet....
Tried on a few helmets today, but it seems my melon needs an oversized helmet. Large just doesn't fit right. There was only a Bell helmet that was oversized which fit nicely, but the color was not to my liking. Looking on manufacturers websites, it doesn't seem that many come in an "oversized" option. Would anyone here have any experience with this or can suggest a brand? Thanks

Try Giro helmets. A Large giro is usually larger than XL from other brands, I use a Large Hex and Remedy that are nice and comfy whilst a Bell XL Drop was like wearing a vice.
Well the one I tried on today was a Bell XLV. Got a few more places to look tomorrow. Not going for a full face yet.
Picked up a Fox Flux helmet yesterday. The L/XL in the Fox is about the same size of the Bell XLV I tried on before. Fits real good!

nice helmet.
it maches you bike nicely.

got any rides on the bike yet?
I have been tempted to, but this Canadian winter is pretty cold right now. I don't really have any gear that would keep me warm right now. Although the roads are somewhat clean, Im sure the trails would be pure ice. Need some of those self studding tires...lol. Im slowly picking things up as its out of season and alot cheaper. So when the season comes I will be ready to ride.
