Just aquired a Specialized Big Hit 1 at my local LBS for a great price and I have some cash left over and was wondering what would you do first.

Specs Now:
Fork: Marzocchi Drop-Off IV SL, 150mm-travel
Rear Shock: Fox Vanilla R
Rims/Wheels: Single Track SL-1
Hubs: Chris King
Crankset: Evolve DH
BB: Race Face
Rear Derailleur SRAM X-7
Rear Cogs SRAM PG-831, 8-speed
Shifters SRAM SX4 Trigger
Handlebars:Race Face Evolve DH
Tape/Grips: Race Face
Stem: Hussefelt
Brake: Avid Jucy 5's
Pedals: Crank Bro's Mallets
Saddle: Specialized Freeride

So anything to replace before I head to winter park in 2 weeks?

I would get some X7 or X9 shifters for a start and change the stem for something like a Raceface Diablous maybe replace the fork too,
Save the $$$ for the trip?
Sounds like a nice build right now. Do you have any pics?
listen to superkat, the rest of the kooks are caught up in what everyone else thinks is cool. save your money until something breaks, then replace stuff.....

it's not the bike, it's the rider. i could outride 99.9% of the people on this forum with that setup. the other .1% could outride me anyway, regardless of what i am on...

Which one, the juicy's or soles? (just out of curiosity)
Listen to WCH though, wait until something breaks. If you really want to upgrade something now for the sake of upgrading, I would say the fork. Congrats on the new bike bro, it's a sweet setup!!

Sorry, the Jucy 5's. I copied the orig. specs of Specialized website and then added the upgrades, and I missed that.

In all honesty, I paid $1100 for the new bike with the stock stuff, is that a pretty good deal?

Clint
yeah trash the fork and go with something that actually has a damper

No problem, just curious. I think its a great deal, did you get it from a store or a private seller? Have fun with it!

-Nate

P.S. Got any pics? :D
Got it from a local store as a clearance Item.

Where is the store, and are there any left? If so, I might have to buy one :D

-Nate
I got the last one. Tey had a big hit 2 for $1800 but I think you can do better.

I'm in Dallas.

What do you mean?
Thats a nice bit of luck about the clearance deal.

-Nate
I meant on the Big Hit 2, I have seen better deals on that bike, but ya I got a hell of a deal for the Big Hit 1

Ok, I see. Yeah, a better deal probably could be found. Enjoy your Big-hit!

-Nate
the fork is the weakest link, but you should just ride it and replace parts as they break
Tires...? If you're going to do lots of lift served riding, get some real downhill tires.
Have you ridden it yet? I'd probably thrash it at least until something breaks, and at least you won't be pi$$ed when something gives up because you'll have cash to buy new. Maybe the fork will work fine for you at the moment, and as you ride the bike you might pick up on something else you don't like, which can be changed there and then  . In the end, a build is cool, and it's yours and you can put what you like on it. Nothing stopping you (apart from $$$)
