Recently bought a hardtail to do so riding on. Its a F600. Great bike so far but I can't stand the crank, by far the weakest part of the bike.

Anyone got any suggestions about what makes and model I can look at. I have looked breifly at Shimano's XT Hollowtech and some RFcae stuff but would like some suggestions.

What's not to like? (Serious question)

If you have a real problem with the crankset, Shimano LX, in my book, is the best deal going in cranks: price, weight & stiffness, they're all there.

If it's crappy shifting you're trying to solve, pick up a new big and middle ring. Shimano gets my vote for cleanest shifting, but lots of guys aren't happy with what they consider a rapid rate of wear. Longer lasting alternatives are Race Face, Blackspire and Salsa among others.

The big difference in my opinion between XT and LX is the quality of the BB--the XT BB is smoother and will last longer.
