Right now my bike (2003 Trek 8500) weights a hefty 24lbs. So ive ordered the following.

Titec Pork Rinds Grips
SRAM PC-991 Hollow Pin 9 Speed Chain
THOMPSON Elite Seatpost, 31.6x367mm
Control Tech Carbon Fiber Titanium QR Skewers
Shimano XTR M960 Cassette
Selle Italia SLR XC Seat
Chris King 1 1/8" Threadless Headset

My question is will doing a tubeless conversion lighten my bike more? Is there a recommended conversion kit I should use? I was thinking about going with Michelin comp-lite tires. They seem to be very light and thats what I want most out of a tire but traction is number one. Are they good or should I look into something else. I mostly ride on hard dirt packed trails.

Another good one is Ritchey WCS stem with an EC70 handlebar. Can get both on ebay for a good dollar since, get EC70 older stock. Ive been on my EC70 for 4 years, going with the new EC90. The Ritchey looks scary but I just put in two hard rides on one and its fine. If hard pack is your terrain, you should stick with extra light tubes, try Lunar lights at Performance and some light tires. I like my Conti Twister Sonics or get the Explorer Sonics for a little more thread. Just my opinion, you will probably get some different takes on the wheels. Oh it looks like Mavic is changing their wheels so maybe some Crossmax deals in the near future??
