I got my future father-in-law (who just turned 50!) into mountain biking about 3 months ago, and now he's hooked! He is an ex-pro motocross rider from his early days, and he hasn't lost a bit. I am 27 and seriously have to push it to keep up with him on the downhill! Its good to see the passion doesn't go away with age and I hope I am riding like him when I am 50+

There are more than a few of us in our mid 40's in the Single Speed ranks getting beat by the occasional 50-something. Most of the top 5 are well over 30 as well.

I ride with a guy that isn't a particularly fast or crazy descender, but he does roll along at a good clip. Keeping up with him on the climbs is the tough part! Skinny, fit mo'fo who will be 62 in a month or so. My younger 30-something friends shake their head in amazement when they find they got spanked on a climb by a guy nearly twice their age! It's awesome.

I've rode with LemurianGuy and he is no joke. 50 and kicks ass. Hey Ron, I'm not to far behind you, I'm 49.
Thanks Skip! I was 12th out of about 20 in the A's in yesterday's 'cross race. And I'm barely sore today, guess I didn't ride hard enough:p

Sounds like you're slackin' there RB! Good thing you don't look 50 or a lot of guys out there would feel even worse about themselves! I have been slackin' off so I won't be talking smack to those disrepecting the 50s club....

I turned 50 this year and train 4-12 hours/week. I'm not ready for "Oops, I Crapped My Pants" yet but did manage to take 8th expert overall in our region's XC championship series. I don't think about age when I'm riding and racing.
