Must-do rides in Phoenix

I'll be in Phoenix with my family all next week. My wife and I are excited to get in lots and lots of riding. We've been there once before and did a little riding at South Mountain and McDowell.

Can anyone give me a top 5 list of must-do rides in the area? Feel free to include rides within a couple hours drive. Details on trailheads and route selection would be much appreciated as well. And which guidebook should we buy?

To give you an idea of what type of riding we like, I thought the National Trail was just about perfect, while Molly tolerated it. She prefers rides a notch or two down the technical scale (from National), with high speed buff cruiser sections of singletrack if possible.

Many thanks in advance!

The Phoenix riders have been nice enough to post some great info here. I guess they got tired of us tourists asking the same question over and over :D
I will be visiting Phoenix next week also. Search the Arizona forum and you will find what you're looking for.
South Mountain.

South Mountain was originally named Chuck Norris mountain, if that gives you any idea of how awesome it is.
