Hello down there. I live in British Columbia, Canada and I'm looking to move to Australia. I've fell in love with surfing recently and I'm hoping to move down there next year. My first love is still freeride mountain biking so I want to find a good place that I can do both of these passions. So whats the insider scoop of places to live? I've been looking between the coast of Melbourne to Sydney with an interested eye on Wollongong. Any feedback on the subject is appreciated, Thanks!! ...Darren

If you want to surf move to Torquay or somewhere near there. The whole coast has great waves. The You Yangs and Forrest MTB parks aren't too far drive away. Thing is though they are XC parks with some good DH tracks at the You Yangs. If you are after real freeride it's going to be a lot harder to come by.

Can't comment on NSW, have no idea sorry.

I'm not a surfer but currently holidaying on NSW sth coast and there are lot of mtb and surf options here.
Mogo & Batemans bay has great mtb as well as Bermagui - Even the club is called the Bermagui Dirtsurfers

I'm on the Mid North Coast of NSW and some of the beaches here are rated as the best in Australia. Riding is also fairly big here, although it is mainly XC.

Surf Coast in Victoria - Torquay/Bells Beach/Anglesea etc..

Close to Otways/Forrest, Anglesea has some nice riding and a few hours at most to other good riding spots.. You Yangs is close as well (maybe an hour?)

Victoria has some great riding in the 'high country' areas as well but are weekend/daytrip type stuff not near the surf. Mt Buller/Stirling, Mt Beauty..
