MTB Skills Day
11 Spots Still Available!
Sunday, July 18
Lake Fairfax Park, Picnic Area A
Current Participant Limit: 24*

*If we get any more instructors, we'll raise the limit.
Clinic Fee: FREE to MORE members, $25 for non-members

NOTE: You must bring your own bike and helmet to the clinic. Any other protective gear (e.g. knee/shin guards, elbow pads) might be helpful too.

The clinic is intended for Advanced Beginner-to-Intermediate riders (e.g. all participants should be comfortable riding a mountain bike and ideally have at least a bit of experience riding trails).

We currently have 4 instructors, and the clinic will be taught in groups of 6 (one instructor per group). Skills covered may vary somewhat depending on the experience of riders in each group (and riders will be grouped according to experience as far as possible).

Example skills might include...
• IMBA Rules of the Trail
• Attack position
• Shifting & pedaling
• Braking
• Weighting/unweighting the bike; forward/rearward weight shift
• Cornering
• Slow-speed maneuvering
• Lifting the front/rear wheels
• Getting over small obstacles
• Getting up onto/down off of ledges
• Bunny hops

The tentative plan for the day is:
10-12 - Skills drills in a flat, grassy field (with some manmade obstacles)
12-1 - Lunch break (bring-your-own or we might provide food---stay tuned)
1-3 - Group trail rides on Lake Fairfax/Colt's Neck trails

Please tell me...
• Your full name
• Are you a MORE member?
• Your experience/skill level (feel free to describe your experience and abilities if you want)
• What you'd most like to get out of the clinic
• Optional - your age

Current participant limit is 24 riders-spots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. (If it gets close, I'll be checking time stamps on the emails!) Again, if we get any more instructors, we'll increase the participant limit (1 more instructor = 6 more participants). If you don't get a slot but want to come hang out and watch, that's fine.
