Usually I come straight here to the mtbr forums for my all my mountain bike advice needs, but foolishly today I decided I to roll the dice and give that Google thing a try. I searched 'MTB racing tips' and the first result was this absolute gem of an article:

I'm sorry mtbr I will never stray away again.

Awesome. You should post this in the Racing forum.

Actually, the "spin the wheel" tip is a good one. I did this once while lined up waiting for the start, and found my wheel wouldn't spin because the shop who just tuned up the bike had tightened the front brake too much. And they left no adjustment in the levers so I couldn't back it off. I had about 10 seconds to decide whether to go brakeless in front or race with the brake dragging.

I knew I had no chance of winning anyway, so I opted for safety. But I always spin my front wheel before a race, just in case. And I do most of my own wrenching.

*Does anyone else ever see these funny Education Connection commercials with the corny songs, that usually have horrible phrasing and lyrics?*
