Moving to Oregon, Where to ride?

My wife has work in Portland and I will be in Salem. We would live somewhere in between and both have a short commute. I'm mostly a kayaker, and so I'm amped for all the great paddling. But I was wondering what the riding would be like If we lived say right in the middle between these two places? How close is the good riding and what is it like? Any good mtn bike guides for that area? Thanks for the help.

Tillamook forest is great, with trails off of 6. Search posts on Browns Camp, Wilson River, and Gales Creek. See Meatfoot for anything closer to Salem.

Thanks for the shout....

Ummmm, closer to Salem, Silver Creek Falls/Shelburg Falls (check in with the Merry Cranksters), Mac Forest out of Corvallis, Molalla River Trail, keep driving to Bend (there is a plethora of riding there), and further south, the DOD in Eugene can be of assistance.

I would like to see what is in the forest outside of McMinnville.

Shoot me a PM and we could ride Silver Creek/Shelburg sometime.
