hi i have a question about mounting a chain guide, my frame doesnt have the special mounts so i guess i need the one that mounts to the bottom braket. Now do i need a longer bottom braket to provide more space to mount the guide or can i do it with my stock one. I have giant stp 1 if that matters.
Thank you.

Ideally you would use a BB with a wider shell. I beleive your STP uses a 68mm BB, in a perfect world you would use a BB mounted chainguide and a 73mm BB. In reality you can use your existing BB, just be aware that when tightened up your non driveside cup may sit inside teh frame.

Some of the STP's come with Truvativ bottom brackets...often these are 68 and 73mm shell compatable, if this is the case then you can remove the stock spacer and replace it with the chainguide mount.
