I eyeball that area every time I drive by.

Lots of Private ranch land. If it was BLM, it could rival Fruita.

Closest I have ridden in Cuchara and it was great...but limited.

Born and raised in Raton, NM. I never mountain biked there but there is a small loop right below the CO border NE of Raton. Sugarite Park. I still frequent Raton for work once a month and intend on trying it. Here is a little info on it, scroll down to general information. Nothing long but i have no idea how technical it is. LOT of wildlife up there and should be fun.

If you ever go, please let me know how it is. There is camping up there in Sugarite also.

Loop at Sugarite

I have ridden the loop at Sugarite and it is cool. Short, but cool. I recommend you ride it clockwise. The camping and scenery at Sugarite are very nice. It would be very cool if some more trails were built up there.
