I am looking to purchase a sold entry/mid level mountain bike. Most of the riding will be done in the city and on trails and backroads, etc. I want to be able to ride in some mountanious locations, but know the majority of my riding will be more amateur work. I won't be ridign down North Carolina mountains. I have been looking at the Trek 4300: http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2002/mountain/4300.html
and the Gary Fisher Wahoo:

Which bike would you all recommend and why? Also, should my frame size be the same on both? I heard if I am a 19.5 on a Trek, I should be a 17.5 on a Fisher, is this true?
I am really unclear as where to start with my first bike!
I appreciate the help!
Thanks!

They are both low end entry level bikes. I'd go with the fisher for the longer travel suspension fork. It will help you on the trails. Either bike is more trail worthy than you give it credit.

As for sizing there is opnly one way to find out. Go to the dealer and test ride them. Buy the one that fits you best. Enjoy
