Sorry if this is the wrong place to post. A friend of mines been looking for a 'first mountian bike' and hes on a real tight budjet, $400 tops. Ive seen what seem like great deals on motobecane bikes. It seems like they generally come with decent enough components, deore shifters, rock shocks suspension. Whats your opinion on how these bikes perform?

Motobecane is not French anymore

Some American guy bought the brand name a few years ago. The newer Motobecane is based in the US. I tried e_mailing them about a bike a while back, but didn't get a reply. Looks like they don't have any Canadian distributors as of yet. They do look to have a good range of bikes for those on a budget. I doubt they have much to do with the original Motobecane that went bankrupt. The circa 1923 logo on their website is misleading at best.
