Want to still rip it up (Sea Otter etc, former 4:22 mile runner)

what is th most erect posture race bike out there in a 29er format
1) Specialized Enduro 29er?
2) Santa Cruz Tall Boy?
3) Ibis Ripley?
4) Scott Spark 29er?
5) Specialized Stumpjumper 29er?
6) Rocky Mountain???

The one you buy and setup as such - not being a smart ass, just stating the facts. Seriously, you would determine this by buying a size that would easily enable this sort of setup and then put on a stem & bar to suit and adjust saddle for/aft.

Less modified and more stock

As a physical therapist with these injuries, and having adjusted my Tarmac at Bolder Center For Sports Medicine and my Specialized Epic EVO 29er in shops in cycling crazy Sonoma County AFTER the injuries to aviod these surgeries, I feel like I have done all I can with there stock geometry (posts, stems, bars, stack height, saddles)

I looking for that 6'3" guy that is obsessed with head tube angles, head tube lengths, slopes of top tubes, modified stand-over heights (to avoid ball strike upon bail out), short chain stays etc.

Lynx is dead on. Obviously, the Epic is more race oriented in geo and will be more difficult to get setup as more upright.

All the manufacturers have geo and dimension charts for their models. Find them and set up a spread sheet to side-by-side compare. Pick the ones that most closely represent what you're trying to accomplish then go try the actual bikes.

All you'll get here is "I had this injury and procedure done so I like my Specialtrek Mo-Duro the best." Gotta find it for yourself.
