It's getting a bit colder here now. You can see the remnants of a 500 year old mountain fortresses in the first few pictures. This area is very popular with bikers but really only ridable on weekdays as it's chockablock wth hikers in the weekend.

We had our first snow on Saturday night. Snow riding is fun, and still something of a novelty to me. I like the way every jagged rock and log looks like a big soft downy pillow. The only real hassle is getting through the city - ironic how 5 minutes of riding to the subway station on an icy road feels much dodgier than 3 hours on singletrack.

Cools photos Duncan.
Korea looks a lot like NZ, though we'd have Maori Pa's instead of ancient fortresses (aye).
Cheers

Nice shots D!

Every time I see that red bike I think, man I like that red...glad I got one!:D
I love the red too (admittedly, the blue and the green also look great). Perhaps next on the shopping list are red hubs and nipples. It all goes nicely with my ruddy little face.

I'll be in New Zealand in about 3 weeks. :) My first trip home after about 6 years, 4 months and 20 days. It's going to be sweet - two months of no work, no money worries, mountain biking, camping, tramping, swimming, travelling, cycle touring, etc etc.

Have a nice winter guys :D

Are there trails near the peak in the 3rd picture?

That mountain kinda reminds me of some of the alpine areas in Arizona. BTW, what exactly is tramping? Keep the pics coming, I alway enjoy the scenery.
That 3rd pic looks straight out of M*A*S*H. I guess the Santa Monica's of Los Angeles do look like Korea!

Heading South for the Winter...(wise!)
Its been a three years since I left to live in England, but hope to go back to New Zealand for a month or so next year. I miss the NZ outdoors a lot (and Kiwi style hamburgers too. They just don't know how to make burgers in the UK).
I'm very envious of you, have a great time.

Dean
Hey Dean,

If your after propoer burgers in London, try out Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) next time your in Putney or Richmond. They even make a 'Kiwi' burger, although they have unfortunately have chosen to sell 'Steinlager'.

Cheers Buck,
Will definitely look that place up when I'm next in London. I think we need a better national lager. How about Speights, or Mac's.
Did they ever bring Buck back?

a picture from last year

The pictures above are a bit old but I just dug out another one taken by a friend on the same day. This is the kind of stuff where I really do appreciate being on the 5 Spot.
