More keystone construction frustration this year

I apologize in advance if this has been posted before; I was just checking the keystone trail map, there was a note on the map, and I verified the info with a resort employee. They are replacing the river run bridge this summer, so they are closing the base area. Once we come off of wildthing, east forrest and evenflow, rather than turn right and descend into the base area, we are going to be redirected left, to the west, and then have to come back to the new gondola to go back up. I don't know the length of the detour. I assume the jumps at the base are lost for the summer.
Keystone loves us :madmax: :madmax: not.

it's not all bad...at least they dropped the prices..
$ally where did you get the info on lift ticket prices being lowered?

I still see the same pricing.

$11 - Child/Senior One Run
$20 - Child/Senior 1 Day - Unlimited Runs

I think $ally is joking.....
I wish keystone was too.
That blows. That set of turns under the lift are some of the most fun on the mtn.
Plus, Winter Park just came by with a very good hookup deal for shop employees that is good all summer long.

But the lift is on the mountain side of the bridge and not even in the same vicinity, so
does that mean you'd have to take the gondola up and then come down to get to the chair lift?
Ok so I just looked at the map. no more chair lift, just gondola I'm gathering? So no easy access to the bottom,
shorter season, higher prices.
Even with all of the negatives, they still have some of the best lift assisted trail close(ish) to Denver... I hope to get there this year. I haven't been there in 2 or more years.

That said I hope to get to SV and WP for some turns too.

Not to thread jack or anything, but some more info on this would be good. PM me if necessary but I've been wondering if they were gonna do the same thing as in years past.
I just rode up Jack Straw road yesterday to the top and did a slew of runs including Helter Skelter to avoid the mess at the bottom. If there is going to be a re- route at the bottom I'm guessing it won't be too bad. Where the tables at the lifts used to be there are now huge piles of construction dirt, perhaps they will evolve back into the jumps. I'm guessing that they will finish the bridge before too long...
The hill is in good shape with just a few snow drifts here and there, but I'm sure they will be gone by Friday. OPENING DAY is Fri the 26th!! See you all there...
A link to the trail map showing the detour at the bottom; the description is in a dialouge box in the lower center. I've ridden that; I don't think I'd want to do it all day in full dh gear:

Linusplatt, does it look like milky way and cowboy up are going to be open on friday?
Can you just load up from the mid station?

I'd love to be able to just session the top 2/3rd of the mtn. But that's just me...

The note on the map hints to that, I'm going to make a phone call to verify it. If you do that, it will be above east forrest, wildthing, and evenflow, and if you rode those trails, you'd come out quite a bit below the mid station.
Affirmative; a phone call to a 20 year old girl with an english accent who probably knows nothing about riding or the mountain confirmed that you can board the gondola mid-station, if you want to avoid the detour, which of course means you miss helter skelter, wildthing, evenflow, and east forest. This same well informed  person also claims ALL the trails will be open this friday. I've got ten bucks says she's wrong there.
I guess I'm going to just have to find out first hand.
Greg from trail crew did tell me a few weeks ago you can load mid-station.

I just e-mailed him asking about what trails will be open opening day.
Thanks Funkmaster. I doubt eye of the tiger will be open; it was real wet the first few weeks last season.
Anyone thinking of riding there this friday?
Cowboy up and Milky Way will not be open on Friday, BUT, Use Girl Scout to access the hill shortly lower to ride EVERYTHING else. CU and MW will be open within a couple days follwing. There is still a big snow drift at the top of these trails. I've ridden Jam rock,East Forrest,High Speed Dirt
Paid In Full,Ride On, Mosquito Coast, Helter Skelter, Motor Head, and Lower TNT all in the last couple of days...
Mid station Loading WILL be allowed and encouraged, however, the short 3 minute ride from the bottom of East Forrest Area to the Gondolla is NO BIG DEAL. The old lift will not be used. Everythings gonna be just fine.

Ride it all day with my knees, and get back to me about that....:D
Thanks for the update.
Sounds like linusplatt knows the deal.

Looks like easy street and river run will be closed since they would put you at a dead end.

I confirmed you can load from mid station.

Sounds like the trail crew just did some work on Mosquito coast after Jam Rock.
