Ogre and I are going to Monterey on July 15 and 16 and we're looking for some trails in the area. Hey DMFT you still interested in hosting us? Or any one else? Any help would be appreciated. We'd love to get a group ride out there. The more the merrier.

Sure.....

....I should be well by then

- My lovely little monster passed on the gift that keeps giving that weekend in B.V.
A NASTY cold! How do you get sick when it's a HUNDRED degree's outside? :madmax:

Anyhow, we're mostly all better now and rode a little yesterday for the first time in a week!
The hubby and I are always up for a good excuse to go to Laguna Seca!

We have a sweet figure-eight loop that's 18 miles with a good mix of fire roads and sweet single track. Had a blast there yesterday, as a matter of fact! Met up with a guy and introduced him to a nice 3 mile section he'd never been on before. He was stoked-

We're not super fast, but we ARE super cool! :D
Ah, Kids!!!

We'll try to plan things out with you. You know how to reach Ogre? See you later.

Fiona

What kind of temps are you experencing? Laguna Seca's no fun when it get too hot, but I'm think an early morning ride would be fun. I've ridden the 24HOA course once this year (prerode the course with Ogre) and that's all that I know about there, but would be interested in other sections. Let's see what we can come up with.

We'll be lucky to see anything close to 75 out there. We hit the parking lot at 11 a.m. on Sunday and were thrilled to see it as warm as it was... drum roll...66 degrees.

I wouldn't worry about the heat. The fog hasn't been far off the coast in a while and is keeping to cool.

PM me on Friday if you're interested in riding on Sunday at 10am either in Laguna or Wilder (if you want to come to Santa Cruz).

Cheers! :)
Sounds great

Ok, we'll try to figure out what we're doing with DMFT and then plan what we're doing with you also. Thanks again.

Well right now...

I would love to do two 20+ mile days (one 30 miler would be good prep for the death ride Kyle has planned) on this weekend and Fiona wants to do 2 days of 10 miles each. We like to do rides where we can ride together for 5-10 miles and then I can go do some additional mileage at a faster pace but if we can't work that out then just doing a short ride for Fi and a longer one for me works fine also :)

I've already talked to DMFT (he replied above) and he suggested Toro park so I was planning on riding there for one of the days. I'm not sure about the other day. Maybe Fort Ord/ Laguna? I've been to Wilder... not enough singletrack for my taste unless you are talking about some of the unmapped/ unofficial trails. I've never been to Demo... Maybe we can hit demo on the way home? What else is out there???

I think Toro and Laguna are the same dirt, no?

Ive ridden all of those areas, and Demo through Nisene would be a great ride, about 40 miles, or for more decending fun at Demo, do 2 full loops starting with a trip down sawpit on the first loop, then decend Braille on the second ( around36 miles). Or you can climb Sulpher Springs and down Braille, for about 22 miles.

Unfortunately Im hurt so I cant show ya around, but Im sure someone will if ya post up a Demo ride.

Fort Ord Saturday?

It looks like we're riding Fort Ord on Saturday. No plans for Sunday yet...

Hokay... Looks like dis right now..

Fiona and Ogre are hitting Ford Ort on Saturday, 9:30AM. Probably a short ride, 10 miles or so, I'm gonna try and hit goat trail, Ewok and the contour trail that goes to Ewok... ?? I'll get a map, super easy pace.

Saturday around 6:15 PM I'm meeting up with Dave (DMFT) and we're hitting ____ _____ for a couple hours.. Probably a bit faster pace, I'm not sure how far we're gonna go... maybe 15-20 miles?

Sunday Morning... 9:30AM or so?? We're hitting Toro Park which is across the way from Ort Ford somewhere?? Supposed to be some killer trails there. All I know is there is a sevin mile Fireroad climb so I imagine there is some fun Downhill component to balance that. All I know is 2 Gnu trails in 2 Days!
Cool in more ways than one

Well, coming home sucks. I can't believe how nice it was in Monterey and Carmel. Then we had to come home to HOT!!! YUCK!!!

Oh well, Fort Ord was a blast. Ogre and I wound our way Saturday morning through some fun singletrack; Ewok, Goattrail, 10, and others I can't remember. The fog coming in over the mountains was beautiful. And then we follwoed up the ride with sushi and he went out with DMFT to enjoy the evening hours with a second ride.

Sunday I went back into Fort Ord for a short solo jaunt while Joseph and Matt da Trog joined Ogre and DMFT in Toro. Thanks goes out to Dave for hosting the ride and post ride festivities at his house.

Muchos Gracias

Great riding. Light on Miles but high on quality. I just love that super technical tight stuff on Toro and that fog/ night ride at P___ B___ was awesome. As Fiona said, we enjoyed a great morning at Ord, hitting my three favorite trails there, Ewok, Whatever that contour trail was from 24HOA, and GOAT TRAIL. Then DMFT showed me some 'locals only' stuff right out of Pacific Grove and into some killer coastal hills with lots of technical stuff. Only hit about 14 miles but it was some quality stuff including some oathillesque technical climbing which is always a blast to me.

Sunday I hooked up with DMFT again plus JDT and Matt da Trog drove in from the baked hell and we hit Toro Park... The climb up was long and HOT but the descent was definitely worth it. Killer views of the Salina Valley, and the entire peninsula for that matter, Lotsa tight tight technical stuff with cliffs, trees and brush grabbing us, and the sort of slow technical riding (think Mickey Mouse for you folks familiar with Folsom Lake) that keeps you on your toes. Then we dropped into so creek beds for a different sort of techncial riding. Finally we were ripping down some smooth fairly buffed trails near the bottom and out.

Then we cruised over to Salinas grabbed some rgeat Mexican fud and hung out at Dave's for a bit, checking out his Pugsly and watched a few MTB vids I've put together.

Anyhow thanks for a great weekend Dave, I think that 108 ride we took you on was no where near as cool as this stuff but that was exploring. Next time you're out this way we'll show you the really killer stuff.

Sounds like you had a great time - sorry we couldn't make it!

Hubby's work just keeps kicking him in the nuts. I planned a Tahoe weekend for the end of the month and have had to re-schedule that too! :madman:

Wanna hear how he made himself feel better? Bought a Blur! :D

Now if he can just get some time to break that puppy in!
Hrm
