Its still early, but it seems that the new definition of the Phoenix monsoon season is a ton of blowing dust storms with 2-3 legitimate storms over the "season" sprinkled in. Now if this qualifies as a "weather whine", I'll take my cheese now please.

LOL! Well.. it's not early down here in Tucson - yesterday we were blessed with 4-5 good showers throughout the day, beginning at about 6:30am and the last about 12 hours later. Living close to the 50-Year Trail, I know it did nothing but good to pack down the loose sand...

That said - I've lived here for all of my 42 years, and I don't know about a "new definintion"... my relatives in the center of the universe have *always* complained about the blowing dust, with just enough rain to make it settle as mud on their cars every now and then. But hey - look at it this way - you've got the highways... ;-)

"And when there were no crawdads, we ate sand."

"You ate sand?" - 'Raising Arizona'

No $hit. I believe welding goggles were in order for anyone riding T100 after 5pm (Monday). Plenty of wind, debri, sand, dust, even dark clouds...but no prescious moisture!

lol, we had 1/2 inch of sand on our front doorstep this morning. while i swept it away we had a few sprinkles, just enough to get on my glasses.

this happens every year, a couple dust storms, then isolated t'storms(maybe you get some rain, maybe not). it is always a hit or miss with the monsoon. we get more widespread rain in the late fall.

i just want enough rain to tame down the damn dust. cleaning the drive train every other ride gets old.

OK time to pile on, well, maybe not. Rain would be nice, I rode T-100 last week and it was like a silt bed in some spots. At least you didn't complain about the humidity.

Hooray!!

I hear they make a new huble pie cheese ;-)
I celebrated by puddle jumping in my truck on the way to work this morning. Now if we can just get a few more of these....

The storm gods listened to my prayer. Hopefully, there will be many more like this, however, I fear that most will be blowing dust. I would gladly eat that humble pie cheese if it means more rain.

Perhaps

you should edit your original post to "Monsoon season Handed Me My A$$!"?

Although it might be a bit premature for my above suggestion - one could probably say the same for your original post :D

Anyone for SoMo this Sunday?

Maybe this can be our version of a rain dance. We post about how the monsoon is a joke and mother nature will set us straight. No SoMo for me I'll be on a plane to Georgia (the humidity this morning will be a good primer)

1" of rain last night at 32/Shea

Checked the Rain Gauge this morning after last nights pounding, we received close to an inch of rain. With this kind of rain, there will significant trail erosion.....it will be like riding new trails in the preserve for a while until they get pounded back in and the lines get reestablished. :D

Monsoon Light Show + SM this Sunday

I sat on the back porch watching trees do their animated monsoon dance to Dire Straights with a backdrop of flashing lightning. What a show! A wet monsoon can trash my yard.

Rex, will meet you at the trailhead to spin cranks at 0530.

It takes a lot of work to be controversial. One has to take risks among other things. Given the timing of my post and last night's events, it would appear that I have indeed been handed my A$$. However, considering I am an A$$ man, I enjoy being handed my A$$. The "dust season" has just begun, so time will tell if I am a prophet, an A$$, or if I can profit from A$$.:p
