There is no shortage of one-off custom dream bikes getting posted up here. How about a thread dedicated to the bikes for the "rest of us". Good old, hard working, hit the trail 29ers!

I'll start it up with my 2004 Surly Karate Monkey. It started as a Camp Stove green model, but due to the factory powder coating wearing thin in a lot of places from a lot of miles, I stripped her down and painted it satin black. I have some new Surly decals on the way.

Bike is equipped with Race Face carbon crankset, Marcocchi Bomber 29er, SPD pedals, Hayes Stroker Trail brakes, Race Face system stem, Misfit Psycles Fu-bars, King headset, Dual Duty rims laced to Surly hubs, Thomson post, and a Brooks B17 Standard. Nothing fancy, all business.

The fork is an '04 Marzocchi MX Comp, it is loaded with springs and oil dampened. I really like it, it is super plush. Not overly adjustable though, but in all honestly, it is perfect the way it is. I live down in Florida and the trails tend to get a LOT of roots, it really takes a lot out of me when I ride with the rigid fork, this makes it so I can ride a lot farther.

I have been thinking that there has been a real dry spell on any KM stoke around here. Niner, Vassago, and Soul have taken some of the thunder off the Surly bandwagon. Nice update to a trusty stead there

Hell yeah! I like to touch my monkey. Surly got it right the first time...with the exception of fork knob clearance. I can't say enough positive things about my KM.

They fixed the knob clearance for 07 models on up.
