Drunkle.....the original amplifiers from the early nineties were actually manufactured by a company called AMP Research, and believe it or not you can still obtain small small service parts, decals, service manuals and other bits directly from them still even though their focus is more towards truck accessories now.
Mongoose did however decide sometime during the mid-nineties to subcontract those frames to an overseas Asian manufacturer, and if the frame that you have is one of these then getting replacement parts may be alot more difficult. A picture would help to identify.
thanks for the reply, but false alarm. the bike turned out to be a walmart special. was excited for a bit on the thought of getting my hands on an amp for practically nothing, but as they say, a picture's worth a thousand lies. and the other one about it being too good to be whatever it is you hoped it would be.
