A few of us showed up to ride Monarch Crest this morning. It was a beautiful and brutal ride but it is hard to have more fun while rding. This was my first time and I didnt take pics of the technical sections- too busy trying to outrun an incoming thunderstorm and too busy hanging on for dear life.

Elevation gain..I'm not sure but probably over 4,000 feet overall. Some of the sections were so steep that they should count for double elevation. It helps to be in granny...a lot.

It is a must-do ride. However, with a two-month riding season for it and very violent weather that can come in within an hour of beautiful weather and a sunny sky, a little luck helps! Leaving early does too. It is pretty fast and rocky so throw on some 2.35s or bigger tires and the rubber side will stay down.

Nice! That Rainbow Trail section always turns into the longest 9 miles of your life but it is too good to miss.
