Hey guys,

Am starting to build up a LRG mojo SL-R.
I'd like to use a 44/30t 2x10 XTR crank...
Has anyone done this with/without successful results, or know if it can/can't be done?

Look forwards to hearing your thoughts and experiences.

The largest 2x XTR we have listed as compatible is a 40 - 28. Not sure you will be able to adjust the FD high enough to match a 44t chainring, or it may touch the chainstay, not sure what the limiting factor is until Monday if you're still interested. That is an enormous gear!

As i usually ride out to my local trails, the 44 ring helps a lot with the journey's and is what im used to on my hardtail.

Will await news from you before ordering.

Out of curiosity, how did you check if it would fit... did you happen to have an sl-r you could test it with, or is there a better manual than the one supplied with my frame?

One of our engineers knows from our CAD models and experience fitting various cranksets and FDs that the larger rings and higher FD position should not cause a problem..

Not sure why it was not included in the manual, though it is pretty unusual.

Well I got news for ya...
Your engineer is wrong.

Having received your reply telling me that it would fit, I went ahead and ordered myself a 44/30 crankset. I then delivered it, and all other parts to my lbs for building.
Today, i received a phone call from them telling me that the derailer (xtr m985 direct mount) won't adjust high enough to accomodate the rings...
Not only that, but the rings also foul on the frame.
I've now ordered a 40/28 crankset, at extra cost for special delivery, in the hope that it will reach my lbs in time for them to complete my build in time for my trip to wales (uk) this comming friday. And of course, i will now have to return the 44/30 crankset for a refund, with yet more carriage/packing cost to myself.

I'd like thank you for the quick response once again, and also request that you sabotage one of said engineers meals the next chance you get.

Crap, Sorry. I was thinking of the 40/28 because that's was the bigger of the two options. I forgot that there were actually three options since nobody has ever asked to use the biggest one.
