Mojo owners that race, what does your std. mojo weigh?

4572 Views 27 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  mx_599
I ask because I bought mine right when it came out with the XTR kit and it was around 25-26lb's. Since then I have "porked it out" to match my usual trail conditions, havoc wheels, fox talus 36 nevegal 2.35's etc. but may want to race it for a couple endurance races. I could buy back the stuff I sold on ebay: a fox 32 float and easton xc-one's to make it lighter, or keep it at around 28lbs. and lighten the tires. If I bought similar gear back it would only be for a few races. I still like the way it is now for most of my riding.

i race mine at 25+ a few ounces.

however, i am changing to air suspension and should be down to 22-23 lbs. but i might also buy a 4 inch FS yeti for serious XC racing
My SL tips the scales at 22.5 pounds with heavy wheels/tires on :D

I get my standard Mojo down under 23lbs for enduro racing. I swap may stans flows with 2.5/2.3 tyres for olympics with 2.1s. I also put on a light Ti railed seat. I leave my manitou minutes on even though they are 140mm travel and have a 20mm thru axle. The weight weenie wheels look really funny with a hope pro II hub and a 20mm axle. I also only run 2 rings 22/34 with no bash guard/chain device. I have an X.9 short cage rear derailleur and use a dura-ace 9spd 11-25 rear cassette that weighs a bit over 150 grams. I don't really get enough use out of the second set of wheels, so I'm thinking of buying a Tranny frame to make an SS and use some of my spare parts.
Currently 23.1 lbs with my every day wheels, 22.5 with my Stans race wheels

A few mod's and I'm shooting just at or slightly under 22 lbs...

do you have a scale pic or break down of parts? that sounds low looking at some of the parts

:)
Wow these are light!

Too bad I let my steel mojo go without a reserve on ebay, it was 21 lbs. and it sold for ridiculously low.....

It says 20lbs 12oz :thumbsup:Sorry the picture size was too big. I will post it later.:???:
Well I put Ti bolts almost everywhere. The star nut is gone. I cut the extra stuff off the FD. The tube thing in the BB is gone. Ti race on the fork. Foam grips with grip shift XO. Manitou MRD is 3.2 lbs. I found some monkeylite SL's in the smaller diameter which is lighter. Stan's Olympic disc at 1325 grams. Conti speed king tires without tubes 400 grams. KCNC seat post and SLR 135 gram saddle. The frame was just under 5 lbs with the DT Swiss shock. There are probably other things aswell. This is a xc race bike.:D

do you have a list to share? i am curious for ideas for mine. or is it top secret? i am just surprised it is that low without some additional boutique ww parts.

what is weight of:

seatpost
wheelset with no tires
is that stock xtr crank? there are lighter setups...

i am just curious where you're dropping the final 2 pounds or so...or say around 800-900 grams.

Have you ever posted a picture of your bike mx? I'd love to see it.

it's just a brown mojo, nothing special. others have far nicer setups than mine.

actually, i sold the medium brown frame on ebay so i could buy a white small frame. i should have had a small to begin with. that was my fault...
I don't race mine, but it currently weighs 25.41 lbs with Conti Race Kings 2.2 (non supersonic) and 26.25 with Conti Mountain King Protection 2.2's.

These parts remain from the original stock build and are on the heavy side. They all work very well in spite of their respective portly-ness :D
Fox TALAS 32
Shimano XT cranks
Shimano XT front derailleur
Fox Float RP23 shock

I added:
Industry Nine wheelset
KCNC Skewers
SRAM PG990 11-34 Cassette
KMC X-10SL chain
Continental Race King tires or Continental Mountain King
USE Atom riser carbon handlebar
Rav-X tape style lock on grips
Hayes Stroker Gram brakes
Alligator rotors
Fi'zi:k Tundra saddle
KCNC Ti Pro Lite Scandium post
Ibis silk post clamp
Ibis Ti bolt kit
Ibis Lopes Link

Future upgrades will focus on the crankset, pedals (I have cheap Crank Brothers "Smartys") front derailleur and grips. The bike originally weighed just under 28 pounds with the stock build and Kenda Nevegals. It that form it was great, now its simply awesome!

I race mine at 26 lbs. plus or minus some. It may seem heavy, but I'll be honest with you I never really notice the extra weight.

Curious, feedback from whom.... and how old a Lefty were they riding? Current versions, or older one? SO far my Lefty carbon 130pbr is the best handeling "fork" I've ever had.
