I have a few trails here that I have some pretty good beta for hiking, just need some biking advice. All are in the Mogollon Rim area.

Pine Canyon Trail 26 (heading UP)
General Crook Loop (west of the Cabin Loop, near Baker Butte)
Highline Trail or Rim Road (both east of See Canyon, I know the stuff to the west)

The "bike advice" just means anything about the trail from a biker perspective. Thank you for any help!

Whoop,

I take it you are a AM/DHer? It seems as though many people shuttle Pine Canyon. Have you ever gone down it?

I am looking at doing a 70-100 miler 3-day bikepack out in the area this weekend and could send so beta your way after I am done, although I really only want to drop off the rim 1-2 times.
I do ride DH, but I have never shuttled up near the rim. I'm looking for some decent 10-20mi pedal rides I can do while camping up there. Most of the people I camp there with don't ride, so just some short solo stuff would be good.

I'd love to hear about what you find up there.

I have ridden the rim road from the Cabin Loop to Heber. The rim road has lots of ups and downs and will be quite busy on the weekend especially as you get to the lakes area (Knoll to Woods Canyon). The General Crook trail is hard (impossible) to follow until you get close to the Carr Lake Trail system. I would recommend taking the Carr Lake trails over the rim road in that section.

Military Sinkhole is OK down hill and a hard uphill. I have only ridden down Drew, it is short and steep with some exposure. The highline from 260 to the See Canyon Trailhead is a fun piece of trail.

Brilliant advice. Thank you! I added Carr Lake to the GPX file.

Highline Drew Crook Carr Sinkhole

Chad. Your trip sounds like an amazing adventure, Something I've wanted to do for a long time.

I have never ventured west of See Canyon on Highline, but the East side to TH 260 is an old friend. Perfect for mountain bikers who love adventure. I was just out that way last weekend, and the trails are in great shape.

From TH 260 up Military Sinkhole is a beast for mere mortals, but you will find it a worthy climb. It's a good descent as well, wide, rocky, steep. I much prefer to ride up Military sinkhole and down Drew. Drew is amazing DH. Steep, chunky, exposed in parts, but so screaming fun.

Rim Vista trail starts as singletrack, and turns quickly into paved trail. Still fun and a good connector to Meadow, still paved, runs alongside the road to Woods Canyon Lake. But just take Meadow to Gen Crook. The Gen Crook Singletrack from Meadow thru the Carr Lake system is awesome. Don't ride the Rim Road from Carr to Military sinkhole. Or try to find the trail that runs along the rim from Carr. I've tried looking for it and never get very far before turning around because I cant find anything close to a trail...just scrambling through brush and downed trees.

I'll send you the gpx from my last ride, incorporate it it if you want, it's all good singletrack.

Chad - Please post up your ride when complete. I've covered a lot of that ground at different times. The Highline Trail west of Christopher Creek to Horton Creek is pretty rugged. You can either take Horton Creek Trail down, then back up Tonto Road to the Forest Road, or you can keep pushing on the Highline west until you hit the power lines. At the power lines you will have to go a little south and then the Highline picks back up and continues west to Tonto Creek. The trail is hard to see off the west side of the Power line trail. Good Luck...Looks like fun!

I've done pine creek down and the upper was switchbacky and gnarly...i liked it. I got lost on the lower section heading back into town. Tried to hook up to the lower section of the 260. Made it though. The upper will be for sure HAB but the lower should be a decent pedal up. Possibly downed trees. I haven't done that section for a couple years...
