Try searching the forum; there have been a number of threads with some strong opinions on both sides.

To summarize: whether due to safety standards or fear of lawsuits from people who misuse them, no one wants to sell a helmet like that in the US. The thin face protector can crack or snap off much, much easier than a normal full face and possibly cut you; however it would still offer you a bit more protection than no face bar

I keep forgetting about the search option sorry everybody, from what I gather most people worry about that thin facebar cutting upon impact. Which explains the lack of popularity here in the States. I am not a very agressive rider but for my style it may suit me fine, with just that bit of extra saftey.
