I'm going to be picking up a wheelset for my girlfriend sometime soon and am looking for recommendations for good hubs that are pretty mellow sounding. My girlfriend just doesn't enjoy the buzz of my Chris King when we ride. In truth, I took that wheel off of my FS woods bike and put it on my MB-zip. When I'm in the woods, I too, like more quiet. I also enjoy coasting, so any "just don't stop pedaling" jests will be humored, but not helpful beyond the laugh.

Thanks,

Daniel

I've run King, WTB and Shimano recently, and think the new Shimano XT is by far the best of the bunch. I'm on the WH-776 wheelset, but it's the same basic hub as all of the newest XT hubs. It's fairly quiet, engages plenty fast (36 point, I think), and is far less maintenance than the King.

The WTB is quiet, but the freehub design doesn't seem to be all that realiable.
