I was riding a new-ish trail today and met the builder on the way down. Chatted briefly and thanked him for his work. As I rode away I realized I had my GoPro out, but not recording and I mentioned the connecting trail by its Strava name. I only share videos and information about certain trails with close friends and I don't post video publicly. I also run double privacy on Strava to minimize revealing low-traffic trails. One nearby trail has had a huge uptick in traffic and has suffered some severe erosion this year.

I feel like I can't thank the builders of local trails enough. I do some maintenance when I come upon downed branches and trees, but I don't put in near the amount of work that a few builders do. Much thanks to everybody who contributes to the amazing trail network in Santa Cruz and elsewhere!

I too act as trail sweep when appropriate, but that's not a candle to these guys great efforts.

Explain "erosion". Bikes/feet/hooves rutting out dry dirt? Rain washing out poorly built trail?

Dirt is perfect. A few sloppy spots at the top, but up and down are great. Rincon's going to be a zoo this weekend.
