Hi all. Looking to put a Medium Cage XO der on my Astrix 29er. My current gearing is 11-34 rear and 29/42 up front. Will I have an issues using this der with this setup? If so should I consider an 11-32 instead?

I've got a med cage x.9 with a 12-34 and 29/42 and I love the way it shifts.

Should be no problem. I have used an 11-34 with a medium, original 9.0SL with 22/32/44. Those were supposed to be fragile and I have never had a problem other than the pivots started to get a bit too loose for suspension bikes. Now that I have a hardtail, it is being used again but not with an 11-34 yet. But it will when I go to a 26/39 2x set up.

I have used medium cage X0 with 12 / 34 on 24, 34, 46 and 22, 32, 44 with no problems.

I have it set up where I can go big big for safety reasons as I do a lot of night riding.

No problems, it has a lot to do with chain length.
