An ideal multimeter has a 0V drop across the leads although any real multimeter adds some resistance in order to measure current (delta V across a low-valued resistor yields the current). Any multimeter worth >~$5 should only contribute negligible resistance when operated in current mode. For a critical measurement one could measure the voltage drop across the active multimeter with a second multimeter to confirm its performance.
