And imjpsjs, etc. shows how IT's done, and...

...after being reticent all day, Jim (ijspmjs, etc.) finally decides to get crazy. Nice job- that can be a nasty little drop.

Pic 2 shows the aftermath. Little wonder there's hardly any rocks left at Rockville. :p

Great show!

Nice riding! Those are the kind of drops that make me fixate on the possibity of 8 hours of reconstructive oral surgery as I set up the approach.

Great camera work also. Were those shot using an automatic mode? "Sports" mode? Or, shutter priorty? They're all digital, I'm guessing.

I gotta get out to Rockville...haven't been there in years...

Thanks. Camera shots were from a Minolta DimageX, utilizing the "continuous frames" option. I had to turn off the auto flash in order to get that shot.

Here's Pete showing me his cool forks:

Not yet, although I've heard pretty good things (the city is surrounded by mountains). I went from US straight to Kenya in July to finish a research project and I have just arrived in Brazil 2 weeks ago. Now I'm flooded with classes (bonus trait reserved to new faculty members...) and some pending publications. The days are just not long enough.

Last sunday I unpacked and assembled my bike (packed since April). Hopefully I'll be able to log something in the next few weeks.

Kenya? That's definitely the scenic route back home.

Professor Spiff ? nah... screw formalities

Herr Doctor Professor Spiff is more like it, LOL

You would not believe what some of the locals carry on bicycles in Nairobi surroundings (Lake Nakuru). 2-3 bags full of potatos (I guess around 30 kilos EACH) and piles of wood over 6" tall. I'm trying to dig some of the pics out.

Gary,

Yeah, indeed I am... I went from a 5 minute commute (through a nice neighborhood) to a whooping 50 minutes, traffic jammed, dangerous, polluted and noisy commute to the campus where I'm working now. Pretty tough.
