Gotta say, the new McLaski is an awesome tool. Very light, compact, and do-it-all! Easier and faster to swing than a McLeod. Also seems to dissipate shock rather nice.

2-3x the cost of a Mcleod, but definitely a must-have.

(I got mine for xmas from the wife!)

We find the fiberglass handles on the Mcleods we have loosen quickly, and cannot be tightened. Maybe not an issue for you; ours get used and abused. :D But that is a good thing.

We just had 175 volunteers on Super Bowl Sunday, and we have two work days a month from Sept until June.

My all around tool choice is the Rogue Hoe, thanks to the recommendations here.

Holy Crap! It would be nice to live somewhere that people care that much about the trails they ride. It would take me 5 years to get 175 volunteer hours.

I'd like to give one of those McLaski's a try. I saw them a couple of years ago and though it would be worth trying out. The I saw the price. You throw in shipping to the wilds of Canada and I'd have to be a well funded group to afford one.
