My family and I are PCSing to McChord this friday. After we get settled in we would like to do some riding. My 4 year old is still on his 16" DB mini viper and my wife is just a cruiser/smooth trail rider. So what are some good family spots to ride? Also, what are some good spots for me to work my FS bike out a bit?

Right now we are looking in Roy and Yelm for houses but regardless McChord will be our central location.

Thanks,
BPD

My sister + BIL + kids are over there, and if you ever run into dog mushers training w/ quads on Ft Lewis, they may very well be my friends from Roy. :) No ideas about real local spots, but for longer weekend rides Capitol Forest would be on my radar over there.

And having lived there for a couple years, I'll warn you now that urban road riding gets 'interesting' (as in "what were they yelling/throwing at me?"), and urban night riding is probably inadvisable altogether in Spanaway/Lakewood.

Fort Lewis has some good trails to ride, one would be Miller Hill next to Division Drive and also North Fort next to Steilacoom.
